Dona IAIÁ: how creativity is born; composition and AI - This was the theme of the session that brought together Adriana Calcanhotto and Maria Rita Nogueira at DEEC, moderated by Prof. Paulo Menezes (Professor at DEEC and researcher at ISR).
Maria Rita Nogueira, a Portuguese artist and researcher from Coimbra, currently living in Manchester, UK, is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Digital Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University (School of Digital Arts - SODA), in collaboration with the ISR.
With a degree in Design and Multimedia from the University of Coimbra, where she also completed a PhD in Contemporary Art, Maria Rita develops research and artistic practice at the intersection of dance, interaction design and artificial intelligence, and has presented some of her works that were initiated at the ISR.
Adriana Calcanhotto, Brazilian singer, songwriter and writer.
Known for her musical versatility, she moves between Brazilian popular music, poetry, children's music and experimental music.
Her compositions stand out for their lyrical sensitivity, minimalism and melodic sophistication. She is also a guest lecturer at the University of Coimbra, where she develops artistic residencies and academic projects related to song.
The threats and opportunities that artificial intelligence brings to artistic expression and creation were the subject of the talk before an attentive and very participative audience.
