Ian Rankin

Postdoctoral Fellow - Universidade de Coimbra

Ian C. Rankin received his Ph.D. in Robotics from Oregon State University, OR, USA, in June 2025, under the supervision of Prof. Geoffrey Hollinger. He previously earned B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Science in Computer Science from New Mexico State University, NM, USA, in May 2019, graduating with highest honors (GPA: 4.0/4.0). His Ph.D. thesis focused on Collaborative Human-Robot Decision Making for Scientific Data Collection. Since January 2026, he has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR), University of Coimbra, where he conducts research within the REMORA project, entitled "Swarm Robotics for the Improvement and Monitoring of Aquatic Resources", under the scientific supervision of Prof. Rui P. Rocha.
