BIOCOSTS

The objective of the project “Total Costs and Benefits of Biomass in Selected Regions of the European Union (BioCosts)”, was to provide a comprehensive analysis of the economic and environmental performance of the energy use of biomass. For this purpose, a number of representative bio-mass-to-electricity and biomass-to-transport-service fuel cycles located at different sites within the European Union were evaluated. A prominent task of the BioCosts project was to determine the “external costs” of the energy use of biomass.
