CISEPI: Characterization of Sustained Integration Solutions of High Intermittent Production Levels
01/01/2005 - 31/01/2006
This project dealt with the large scale penetration of wind power, analysing possible energy storage and distributed generation options, which includes the use of hydrogen and fuel cells as one of the options. Project carried out for the National Grid (REN). In a scenery of large scale penetration of renewable production from wind power origin, like as the forecasted in result from the observance of the assumed objective in the 2001/77/CE Directive, it is fundamental that the electric system have means to compensate the volatility effects of the wind power availability. The objectives from this study are known and evaluate the possible options to satisfy the objective of the Directive - that can use another energy sources -, or that can ensure the necessary complementarity to the intermittent production.
