5Es in Universities

The project has the objective to promote the use of energy efficient equipment (EEE) in the area of ICT at universities and higher education institutions in Europe and to use them as important target group for energy saving programmes, because universities could become leaders in society in contributing actively to the European Union objectives for increased energy-efficiency and to meeting its Kyoto commitments. It therefore aims to facilitate the adoption and promotion of energy-efficiency purchasing practices within 14 model universities in the EU member states and to raise the awareness on RUE in the entire higher education sector throughout Europe. New sector-specific procurement guidelines and a model procurement network will constitute the framework for this pilot action.
