Providing Energy Services with Fuel Cells in liberalised Energy Market

The main objective of this project is the promotion of fuel cell energy services, namely combined heat and power (CHP), in the buildings sector and in industrial small and medium enterprises (SMEs), through the identification of cost-effective opportunities, by increasing the awareness of the benefits of fuel cell options, and by developing appropriate strategies to foster fuel cell energy services in those types of consumers. The project will analyse the cost-benefits of fuel cells for several sub-sectors in the buildings sector market as well as in industrial SMEs. The possible barriers which prevent the large-scale adoption of fuel cell energy services will also be analysed by contacts with representatives from manufacturers, distributors, designers, installers, electric utilities, independent power producers, ESCOs, consumers/energy agencies and a strong collaboration with the project HYSOCIETY will be ensured in order to ensure an efficient synergy between the 2 work programmes.
