Remote metering of electricity as a tool for the provision of information to customers on energy consumption based on individual circumstances
Remote metering of electricity as a tool for the provision of information to customers on energy consumption based on individual circumstances
14/11/2001 - 14/11/2003
The primary objective of this project is to overcome the lack of information between customers and utility on daily, monthly and weekly electricity consumption data and their load curves, by developing a strategy for improved information management in those demand sectors particularly suited for successful Demand Side Management. The strategy focuses on organizational and procedural changes. Remote metering systems are being provided by the utilities, and the customer will receive a monthly bill showing the load diagram of electricity consumption for the last month. The conceptual and technical approach defined for this Pilot Action includes improved decision making at the dispatcher centre of the electric utility networks as well as the automation of data collection and processing. This will lead to better load management using basic and peak load capacities. The utilities cooperating in this SAVE project have already prepared extensive studies on prototype customers in their supply regions. This information should be updated and complemented by reliable time series data obtained from the remote metering systems that are being installed.
